Not too long ago, I was hired to be the fight choreographer on a film for the 48 Hour Film Project. Basically, you get 48 hours to write, shoot, edit and submit a short film. You also have to include certain elements that they give you… such as the genre, a character, prop, and a line of dialogue. If you think it’s easy, think again.

I was blessed to work with Coco and Kerri Bermudez of Viva La VHS, who made it look easy. Their hard work and motivation kept everything as smooth as could be under such time constraints. Considering we only had 48 hours to make the entire film, it ended up where I had approximately an hour to choreograph the fight scenes and another hour to rehearse with the actors who had limited to no stage combat training or experience.

Thankfully, everyone who was involved, from cast to crew, was very pleasant to work with and very receptive… making it one of the most enjoyable projects I’ve ever worked on. I am happy to say that the film is now listed on IMDB, which is a major accomplishment! Thank you to everyone involved and I look forward to working with all of you again real soon!
